Overview

Platform - Nintendo 64

In Harvest Moon 64 you take over your grandfather's farm when he passes away. You have three years to make the farm profitable or it gets made into a resort. You can do a lot in that time though, such as grow crops, raise animals, race your horse or your dog, take part time work with the carpenter, fish, get married, and, eventually, have children.

Controls

A - Pick up item/open doors/throw item/talk/confirm selection

B - Use tool/cancel menu

Start - Pause game and bring up rucksack
< Tool - Equip a tool by pressing A twice
< Belongings - Take a belonging out of your rucksack by pressing A twice
< Possessions - These items are important to the game but cannot be directly used
< Clock - What time it is...
< Gold - How much money you have...

L and R - Rotate view of your farm

Z - Identify selected item

Top C - Place the item you're holding in rucksack

Left C - Whistle to call horse

Right C - Whistle to call dog

Bottom C - Eat the item you're holding

How to Play

Start out by clearing off your field. Break up boulders, chop stumps, and pull up and throw weeds. Once you've cleared the field you need to buy some seeds and start growing crops quickly. Water them every day and in no time you'll have a bountiful harvest. Then you can buy some animals from the Green Ranch and raise them. As soon as you've gotten the farming part of the game down, you need to focus on interaction with the townsfolk. Go to festivals, make friends, and get that special girl to fall in love with you. Then it's time to get married and settle down to a long successful life on the farm!
