Harvest Moon 64 People

Harvest Moon 64's Flower Bud Village is full of people, and you can (and should) become friends with all of them. Although some won't necessarily be friendly to you at first, once you get to know them you can turn anyone to your favor.

  • Ann - Ann loves animals, and spends most of her time in the fields of the Green Ranch with her brother and the animals. She especially likes the small cute animals you can find in the forest of the mountain (rabbits, squirrels, etc.). Although her brother isn't very nice to you, she usually is. If there's bad weather, she'll be in the barn. Ann can play the flute, and she's one of the girls you can marry.

  • The Baker - He helps out at the bakery, making the delicious cakes. At nights you can sometimes find him in the Bar. He's fairly nice and can be helpful if you want to marry Elli.

  • Bar Owner - Basically he just runs the bar at night from 6 PM to 12 AM. He isn't seen many other places, except a few festivals. On New Years he insists that you stay at the Bar overnight.

  • Basil - A wandering traveler, Basil is Lillia's wife and Popuri's father. He collects rare seeds. He'll leave every Fall and return every Spring. Basil stays around the Flower Shop when he's in town, but he'll stop by your house to tell you when he's arrived or leaving.

  • Bug Catcher - He shows up on Moon Mountain in the second year, searching for a rare bug. He's a very minor character and doesn't have much of a role in the game.

  • Buyer - He buys your crops and anything else you have to sell. He'll come by your house every day at 5 PM. At nights he can sometimes be found in the Bar. The Buyer will also sell sweets at some of the festivals, especially the dog and horse races.

  • Carpenter - He lives in a cabin at the base of the mountain and will provide upgrades for your house. He'll give you some good advice.

  • Children - There are three little kids in the village that get educated in the Church during the week and attend many of the festivals. Sometimes they can be seen in the mountains too. Kent, the boy with red hair, likes animals and will tell you about festivals sometimes. Stu has black hair and enjoys flowers. May is the little girl, and she is the daughter of the buyer and the granddaughter of the Midwife.

  • Cliff - Cliff is a newcomer to the village. He hangs around the mountain and enjoys fishing. If you're kind to him he might share some of his fish with you. He'll find work whenever he needs money and hunts for food. Cliff also seems to like Ann.

  • Elli - She works at the Bakery in the village and enjoys it when you stop by for a bite. She's good at playing the flute. Her father died years ago. She's a choice for marriage and is actually one of the best wives, because she'll do a lot of housework. Elli spends her time in the Bakery and at the mountain.

  • Elli's Grandmother - She sits in a rocking chair in the yard beside the Bakery and doesn't do much other than reminisce about the past. She remembers when you were just a baby. Eventually, she'll die if you keep talking to her, but if you don't talk to her later in the game she'll stay alive!

  • Festival Girls - These three girls only show up at festivals and appear to be from a different town.

  • Gray - Ann's brother, Gray is very cold to you when you first meet him. He was injured in a horse accident years ago and hasn't been the same since. However, if you persist enough and are always nice to him, he will eventually grow kinder to you. He's usually around the Green Ranch and likes it if you give him berries.

  • Green Ranch Owner - Not given a name in the game, the owner of the Green Ranch is Ann's father and can give you a lot of useful advice about raising animals. He'll also sell you the animals when you're ready for them. He's pretty nice and can be found in the shop of the Green Ranch during the day and some nights he can be found in the Bar. He'll give you your horse if you visit in the first Spring.

  • Greg - The fisherman, Greg can be found around the river and the pond on the mountain. He'll give you the fishing rod early in the game and encourage you to fish.

  • Harris - The local mailman, Harris is seen wandering through the mountains in the afternoon, and also attends some festivals. He's fairly friendly, but reserved when you first meet him. If you begin to woo Maria, he'll become colder to you, since he likes her.

  • Harvest Sprites - The Harvest Sprites live in the cave behind the Carpenter's cabin. They speak in Pig Latin when you first meet them, but once you become better friends with them they speak proper English. You need to become friends with them because they'll help you out on your farm.

  • Kai - Kai works at the Vineyard and is from a village far away. He's quite friendly and can be found in the Bar on some nights. He's usually around the Vineyard and cares a lot for Karen.

  • Karen - Karen is rude to strangers and can be quite hard to win over if you want to marry her. She works in the Bar at night and likes wine and berries. She's usually in her house during the day and sometimes can be found in the mountains, at the beach, or in the Church.

  • Karen's Mother - She doesn't say very much and seems fairly sad, but overall she'll be quite nice to you. If you don't marry Karen she will leave and never return. She stays at her house even on festival days.

  • Kissing Couple - This couple will, oddly enough, come to your farm if you have fields of grass or flowers. They'll get close and eventually kiss.

  • Lillia - She owns the Flower Shop in the village. Lillia is very kind and loves Spring. She's Popuri's mother, and it will benefit you to befriend her if you're going to attempt to make Popuri your wife. Typically, she's in the Flower Shop, unless there's a festival.

  • Maria - The daughter of the Mayor, Maria is the village's shy librarian. She's friendly and can play the Church organ quite well. She likes bugs but is afraid of animals. She'll be in the Library most of the time, but can occasionally be found in the mountains. Maria is another choice to marry.

  • Mayor - The Mayor of Flower Bud Village will attend every festival and will come to your home the day before anything special to tell you about it. He can be found walking through the village most of the time, and sometimes is in his house. His daughter is Maria, the librarian.

  • Mayor's Wife - She usually stays in the Mayor's house but attends the festivals with him. She's friendly enough.

  • Midwife - She lives in the south part of town and will deliver your baby once you get married. She was friends with your grandfather. She can be found around her house most of the time.

  • Other Carpenters - They chop wood outside the Carpenter's cabin and help him with his projects. Basically they do all the work.

  • Parson - He's the local pastor and doesn't ever tell you his real name. He's pretty friendly and stays in the Church almost every day, usually even during festivals. He preaches on Sunday mornings and educates the children in the Church during the week. He'll marry you and your wife and say a few words at the graveyard if one of your animals dies.

  • Photographer - The only time the Photographer is seen is when you have a photo taken for your photo album. He's a very minor character.

  • Popuri - Lillia's daughter, Popuri usually stays around the Flower Shop, watering the flowers or just standing around. She's a good singer, and if you want to marry her you should have a lot of flowers planted around your house. Sometimes she's in the mountains, and on rainy days she stays in the Flower Shop.

  • Potion Shop Owner - He uses special herbs to make health potions. He's friends with many of the other villagers. The Potion Shop Owner can be found around his house in the south part of the village or in the mountains. He likes to make the children work.

  • Restaurant Owner - He lives in the house at the summit of the mountain. The little restaurant hasn't gotten any business in a long time since the bridge has been out, so pay him a visit by climbing up the tree behind the Carpenter's cabin.

  • Restaurant Owner's Wife - She lives with her husband in the house atop the mountain. She's become very forgetful in her old age.

  • Rich Couple - This couple comes to some festivals, but isn't seen anywhere else.

  • Rick - Ann's cousin, Rick runs the Tool Shop and is always developing new and useful tools. His shop sells the Blue Feather you'll use to get married, among other things, but it's closed on Wednesdays and weekends so sometimes it's hard to talk to him. He's usually found around the Tools Shop.

  • Saibaru - He runs the Craft Shop next to the Tool Shop. If his shop is closed he'll sometimes be around the Hot Spring in the mountains. He's a bit distant but not necessarily mean.

  • Taro - Taro is the name of the Potion Shop Owner's dog that is about the same age as your dog. If you put your dog out by the Potion Shop Owner's house overnight Taro will have puppies.

  • Taste Judge - The Taste Judge appears at some festivals. If you talk to him you might have a better chance of winning in the contest.

  • Vineyard Owner - He's Karen's father and is constantly getting in arguments and fights with her. He's not very friendly and can be a bit rude. He can be found at the Vineyard and at the Bar some nights. He doesn't really care if the Vineyard succeeds or fails. He seems to have a drinking problem.

  • Wanderer - This mysterious man appears at several festivals selling strange objects. Watch out though, because you never know if it might be a scam.
