Harvest Moon 64 Tools

You get almost all your tools from Rick's Tool Shop, except for the few you start out with. They're quite expensive.

Axe - You start with the axe. Use it to cut down tree stumps. When you first start out, it will take six swings to chop the big stumps, but as you move up your level (there are three levels) it gets progressively easier. The second level takes two swings, and the third takes only one.

Hammer - You also start with the hammer. It's used to break up boulders and small rocks. The level one hammer will take six swings to break boulders, level two takes two, and level three takes one. The hammer can also be used to break up broken fences.

Hoe - You start with the hoe. Use it to till soil before you plant crops. It's best to hoe in a U shape, leaving one open square at the top of the U. The level one hoe tills only one square, level two tills three squares, and level three tills six squares.

Sickle - You start with the sickle. It cuts grass and weeds. Level one cuts one square, level two cuts three squares that you're facing, and level three cuts one square all around you.

Watering Can - You start with the watering can. Use it to water your crops, and fill it up in the pond on your land. Level one waters one square, level two waters three squares in front of you, and level three waters all six squares in front of you (you sling the water).

Brush - Buy at Rick's Tool Shop for 800G after Spring 3rd of the first year. You really need to get this to brush your horse and cows. If you hope to win any festivals you'll need to brush your animals daily.

Fishing Pole - Greg (the fisherman) gives you this for free after Spring 3rd of the first year. Fishing gets you a lot of money if you can get the hang of it, but it takes time.

Bottle - Buy this from Rick for 1000G during the first Flower Festival. It's useful to have because it can hold water or medicine.

Animal Medicine - Buy this for 1000G from the Green Ranch after you get your first animal. It's used to heal sick cows and sheep, but if you take good care of them you'll never need it.

Bell - This is given to you from the Green Ranch after your first cow or sheep purchase. Use it to call for your cows and sheep to get them inside or outside of the barn.

Wool Shears - Buy these from Rick's Tool Shop for 1000G after your first sheep purchase. You'll need them if you ever want to make money from your sheep's wool.

Milker - Buy this from Rick's Tool Shop for 1800G after you get your first cow. You use it to milk your cow once it grows up. The more the cow loves you, the more the milk is worth.

Chicken Feed - Buy these for 10G per packet from the Green Ranch after the third of the first Spring. If you keep your chickens inside you have to feed them with this - they won't eat fodder.

Cattle Feed - Buy these for 30G per packet from the Green Ranch after the third of the first Spring. If you run out of fodder you can use this to feed your cows, but it's best to just not run out of fodder.

Ocarina - Buy this for 1200G from the Craft Shop during Fall of the first year. You can only play it during the Winter Spirit Festival, but it's still cool to have.
