Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town

Title screen Released in Japan in April of 2003, Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town was released in the USA November 11, 2003, and released in Europe in March of 2004. It's the first Harvest Moon game for the Nintendo Gameboy Advance.

Friends of Mineral Town is a remade version of Back to Nature, the original Playstation Harvest Moon game. It's quite impressive the amount of depth they managed to pack into a game this size - it retains all major aspects of Back to Nature, while it changes some smaller ones and adds and deletes others. You start out remembering a visit to an old man's farm, and take over the farm when he passes on. You must work hard to gain the trust and friendship of the townspeople, especially the girl you intend to betroth. Features include:

  • Almost all original characters from Back to Nature (excluding two or three minor ones).
  • Detailed farm/village maps and statistics from your farm.
  • Many different animals to raise and crops to grow.
  • Woo and marry one of six eligible bachelorettes.
  • Many different festivals to attend and contests in which to compete.
  • Horse racing and a new dog Frisbee competition.
  • Connect to the Gamecube version, A Wonderful Life, to unlock new surprises.
  • Save any time in one of two save files.
  • Many different secret items to collect.
  • Befriend the Harvest Sprites to get them to work for you.
  • Large, sprawling game world with no more "jumping menu" from previous Harvest Moon Gameboy games.
  • Comprehensive fishing experience with specific regions and species/sizes of fish to catch.
  • Fully-equipped kitchen and over 100 recipes to collect and actually cook.
  • Four different television shows every day, including a home shopping network weekly.
  • Many different home upgrades and decorations. Feel at home!
  • Two mines, each with hundreds of levels, in which to dig for precious gems.
  • A huge field for growing crops and grazing animals in grass.

Since not too much is different between Friends of Mineral Town and Back to Nature, to get a feel for this game you can visit the Back to Nature section of this site until this section is completed.
