Friends of Mineral Town has many characters and becoming friends with different people will trigger different events and might even get you special items. Everybody has likes and dislikes, and everyone has a birthday on which they'll appreciate presents even more. People follow set routines, and you can usually learn where people go on specific days and find them there consistently. You can marry one of five eligible girls in town, so it's even more important that you become friends with them and their families.

Ann - Ann is one of the girls you can marry. She's a bit of a tomboy as her mother died when she was young, leaving her to be raised by her father. She's an excellent cook, taking after her father. Her birthday is Summer 17th and she likes to take walks to the Hot Spring in the morning, working at Doug's Inn later in the day. Your rival for Ann is Cliff (unless he leaves town).

Anna - Anna is Mary's mother. Her birthday is Fall 23rd, though a glitch in FoMT makes her respond to any present on any day as though it were her birthday. Though she spends most of her time in her home, she goes to Rose Square around noon to gossip and will occasionally stop by the Supermarket.

Barley - Barley owns and operates the Yodel Ranch and is May's grandfather. He cares for May since her mother, Joanna, left her years ago. He is almost always at the Yodel Ranch, but when he's not he's usually with May at the Hot Spring. His birthday is Spring 17th.

Basil - The local "plant hunter," Basil is also a writer and is responsible for most of the books in the Library. He's Mary's father and can usually be found at home with his wife Anna, though he can sometimes be seen on the mountain or in Doug's Place. His birthday is Summer 11th.

Carter - Carter is the local pastor and is a very kind and caring man. He runs the Church and will hear your confessions, tell sermons, bless tools, or just talk to you. During the week he takes care of the children of the village. He can either be found in the Church or in front of the Church. If you become good enough friends with him he might even unlock the door to the yard behind the Church for you. His birthday is Fall 20th.

Cliff - Cliff is always depressed because of his feelings of guilt and spends most of his time confessing in the Church. He lives at Doug's Place and can be found there any time he's not in the Church. He and Ann will get married eventually if you don't marry Ann. If you don't tell him about the job at Aja Winery in the Fall, he'll leave town forever. His birthday is Summer 6th.

Doctor - Although the doctor is a large character in the game, even marrying Elli if you don't, he is never given a name. He spends some time on the mountain, usually in the morning, but he can typically be found in his office at the Clinic. His birthday is Fall 17th.

Doug - Doug is Ann's father and runs the inn, Doug's Place (obviously). He's an excellent chef and can be quite gruff but is really quite a nice fellow. He's eager to see Ann hitched. He'll usually be found at Doug's Place - if he's not up front he's probably in the kitchen, cooking. His birthday is Winter 11th.

Duke - Duke is married to Manna and runs Aja Winery, which is named for his daughter. He's usually in the wine cellar or the vineyard but can be found at the bar in Doug's Place as well. His birthday is Winter 15th.

Ellen - Elli's grandmother, Ellen is a kind old lady who spends almost all of her time at home in her rocking chair. She is lonely in her old age and both she and Elli will appreciate if you visit her frequently. She'll even knit socks for you if you give her a ball of yarn during Winter, provided you're friends with her. Her birthday is Winter 13th.

Elli - Elli is one of the girls you can marry. She has short brown hair and spends a lot of time at the Clinic, or taking care of her grandmother, Ellen, and brother, Stu. Her birthday is Spring 16th and your rival for her heart is the doctor.

Harvest Goddess - The Harvest Goddess plays a more active role than ever in Friends of Mineral Town, and is one of the girls you can marry. She lives in the pond under the waterfall, near the hot spring. If you make an offering by throwing something into her pond, she'll probably come out to chat. She also is the point of communication between the Gameboy Advance and the Gamecube. If you give her presents for ten straight days, she'll give you a Power Berry. Her birthday is Spring 8th and she likes eggs and crops.

Gotz - Gotz is the local carpenter and lives in the cabin in the woods behind your farm. He'll fix your house and outlying buildings up and make general improvements for you. His birthday is Fall 2nd, and he can usually be found on the mountain in the morning and either at his home or the Supermarket during the day.

Gourmet - The Gourmet is only seen during the Cooking Festival or very few special events. He doesn't live in Mineral Town but only stops by to judge the contest. His birthday is not known, but it doesn't matter, since you'd most likely not be able to see him on his birthday anyway.

Gray - Gray is Saibara's nephew. He is the apprentice at the blacksmith shop and lives at Doug's Place. He doesn't seem to get along very well with his uncle and is usually upset. His birthday is Winter 6th and he can usually be found at the Blacksmith, the Library, or Doug's Place. He likes Mary and will eventually marry her if you don't marry her first.

Harris - Harris is the local policeman, keeping everyone safe. He'll patrol the town every day, rain or shine. Since there's no crime in Mineral Town, he usually just keeps an eye on the most shifty character - Won. He lives with Mayor Thomas, for some reason. His birthday is Summer 4th and he can be found at Doug's Place, Mayor Thomas' home, the Yodel Ranch, or Gotz's house.

Jeff - Jeff is the owner and operator of the Supermarket. Jeff is quite quiet and shy, and sometimes lets people take items without having to pay for them immediately, resulting in fiduciary trouble. His birthday is Winter 29th and he can be found at the Supermarket or Doug's Place.

Kai - Kai lives far from Mineral Town and only comes to town during Summer of each year. He operates the Summer Lodge on the beach, where he sells unique food items. Kai has quite a tan and is not liked by many men in town. He'll marry Popuri if you don't marry her, and his birthday is Summer 22nd. He can be found around his shop on the beach during most of the day, or at Doug's Place.

Kappa - Kappa is a strange green creature that seems to haunt Mineral Town. He lives in the lake on Mother's Hill and will give you a special blue Power Berry if you throw cucumbers in the lake for ten days straight. You may also see him pop up in other places - maybe even your home...

Karen - Karen is one of the girls you can marry. She is the daughter of Jeff and Sasha and lives at the Supermarket. She's a bit of an alcoholic and likes wandering around, so she can be hard to find sometimes. Karen can usually be found at the Supermarket, the beach, Doug's Place, outside of the Hot Spring, or at Gotz's house. She is an excellent singer. Her birthday is Fall 15th, and your rival for Karen is Rick.

Lillia - Lillia is Popuri's mother and operates the poultry farm. Her husband has gone to search for a special herb to heal her from an illness. She closely resembles her daughter. Her birthday is Spring 19th and she can be found at Chicken Lil's.

Manna - Manna is Duke's wife. She loves to gossip and talks a lot, so don't initiate a conversation with her unless you've got some spare time. Her birthday is Fall 11th and she can be found at Aja Winery or in Rose Square, talking with the ladies.

Mary - Mary is one of the girls you can marry. She is very shy and quiet and is the sole librarian of the local library. She has black hair and wears glasses and is very kind. Her birthday is Winter 20th and she can be found at the Library. Gray likes her and is your rival for marriage.

May - May is one of the children of the town. She is Barley's granddaughter. Her mother, Joanna, left her with Barley when May was very young and hasn't been back since. She's friends with Stu and goes to church with him to play with Carter during the week. Her birthday is Winter 26th and she can be found at the Hot Spring, Yodel Ranch, or outside of the Church.

Popuri - Popuri is one of the girls you can marry. She's Lillia's daughter and has her mother's distinctive pink hair. She likes Kai (your rival for her hand in marriage) despite her brother Rick's disapproval. Her birthday is Summer 3rd and she can be found at the Hot Spring every morning but Sunday, when she goes to the Church. In the afternoons she can be found at Chicken Lil's.

Rick - Popuri's brother and Lillia's son, Rick looks out for his sister and dislikes her love interest, Kai. He does a lot of the work at the poultry farm, helping out his family since his father is gone. His birthday is Fall 27th and he can be found at Chicken Lil's or the Supermarket.

Saibara - Saibara is Gray's uncle and the elderly blacksmith of the town. Though his language is a bit gruff, he's actually quite kind and thoughtful. He'll make important items and upgrade tools for you. His birthday is Spring 11th and he is usually at his shop or the Supermarket, though he can sometimes be found in the bar at night.

Sasha - Sasha is Jeff's wife and Karen's mother and lives at the Supermarket. She seems to "wear the pants in the relationship" and tries to make Jeff be more strict in his enforcement of prices. Her birthday is Spring 30th and she can be found at the Supermarket or chatting with the other women of the town in Rose Square.

Stu - Stu is May's friend and lives with his grandmother, Ellen. His sister Elli takes care of him most of the time, though he seems to enjoy giving her a hard time. His birthday is Fall 5th and he is usually at Ellen's house or outside of the Church with May and Carter.

Mayor Thomas - Mayor Thomas is very kind and has faith in you. He really wants to see you make the farm successful. He'll show you around town at the beginning of the game and help you get a feel for the rural life. His birthday is Summer 25th and he can usually be found at his house with Harris, but sometimes will be seen at the Supermarket or other places around town.

Won - Won is a traveling salesman that has set up shop in Zack's beach house. He's quite interesting looking with his yellow suit, colorful hat, sunglasses, and ponytail. He'll stop by your farm selling special apples occasionally, and will always sell seeds and various items at Zack's house. His birthday is Winter 19th and he's almost always at Zack's home.

Zack - Zack is the local shipper and looks quite intimidating with his bulging biceps. He'll stop by your farm every day at 5 PM to pick up the various items you've placed in any of the three shipping bins. If you try to ship something after 5 PM or on a festival day when he's not making his rounds, it will be carried over to the next day. His house is on the beach next to Kai's Summer Lodge and he's in it most of the day with Won. His birthday is Summer 29th and he can be found at the Supermarket, his home, or walking around Mineral Town.
