Buy seeds from the Flower Shop. Use the hoe to till your soil (use a U-shaped design so you can access all crops), then stand in the middle and throw the seeds. They'll go around you in a 3x3 pattern. Renewable crops keep producing all season long, whereas non-renewable are only harvested once.
