Your farm in Harvest Moon GBC isn't very large. It consists of your house, wood shed, stable, cow barn, chicken coop, tool shed, underground mine, and lots of pasture area. Everything has a sign in front of it, so it's pretty easy to figure out what everything is.
When you first start, you need to pick up all weeds and throw them down. Break up rocks with the hammer and stumps with the ax. It takes 6 hits to destroy the larger stumps and boulders. You can take lumber from the tool shed by pressing A up against it while you have nothing in your hands. Till the soil with the hoe to plant crops. You need to water them every day, and refill your watering can at the small ponds. That's basically all there is to it.
