Harvest Moon Tools

These items can be bought at either the Tool Shop or the Animal Shop. They're housed in your shed. You can only carry two tools at a time.

  • Hoe/Super Hoe - Use these to till the soil so you can plant crops. You start out with the hoe, but can get it upgraded to the super hoe (which tills 6 times as much) by being nice to the Harvest Sprites in the cave. When they ask you a question, say 'yes,' and they'll upgrade your hoe for you.

  • Hammer/Super Hammer - These tools break up rocks for you. Once you've destroyed all the rocks in your fields, they're essentially useless. Get the regular hammer upgraded from the carpenter after you get the first house upgrade.

  • Ax/Super Ax - These chop up stumps and get you lumber. Again, like the hammer, it's useless after all stumps have been cleared from your land. You get the super ax by being honest to the Harvest Goddess (throw a crop in the underground pond).

  • Sickle/Super Sickle - This will cut grass and weeds. Be careful though - it'll cut crops too. The super sickle cuts one square all around your farmer (he turns in a circle). Get it by talking to the first harvest sprite in the cave a lot and answering 'yes' to his question about the sickle.

  • Watering Can/Sprinkler - These water your crops. The watering can only waters one square and has to be refilled in the ponds on your farm. The sprinkler has to be bought at the tool shop and can water one square all around your farmer (just like the super sickle). The sprinkler doesn't need to be refilled, and it costs 2000G.

  • Umbrella - This is given to you if, after your first year, you're a "true Harvest Master." Use it on sunny days to make it rain the next day.

  • Brush - Costs 800G from the tool shop. Use it to brush your cows and make them happy (it doesn't work on your horse).

  • Cow Bell - You get this for free after you buy your first cow. Use it in the barn to call your cows to you (it's pretty pointless).

  • Milker - This costs 1800G from the tool shop. Use it on your adult cows to get their milk and sell it for quite a profit.

  • Cow Feed - You can buy this for 700G from the animal shop. It works like the fodder you get from your grass - you just feed it to your cows.

  • Chicken Feed - This is 500G. It works just like cow feed does. Only get these if you're out of fodder.

  • Medicine - This 1000G item is for use on your cows when they're sick. It'll make them happy and healthy again.

  • First Aid Kit - Costing 2000G, it's just an advanced version of the medicine for your cows. It's only available the second year.

  • Cow Potion - Buy it for 4000G at the animal shop and use it on your adult cows to make them pregnant.

  • Pick Ax - You get this after the first year if you become a Ranch Master. Use it in the mines under your farm to clear out rocks.

  • Saddlebags - For 2500G you can buy the saddlebags which will allow you to ship items from your horse. Much more convenient than going all the way to the shipping bin every time.

  • Butter Churn - For 30,000G your second year, you can get this to turn normal cow's milk into butter. Butter sells for a higher price than regular milk.

  • Cheese Maker - Also available for 30,000G your second year, this turns cow's milk into cheese. Cheese also sells for more than regular milk.

  • Fishing Rod - You get this after becoming a Ranch Master. Use it to fish in the underground pond.

  • Lumber - This can be bought for 500G at the carpenter's shop. Use it to make fences or upgrade your house.
