Harvest Moon 3 Farm

Your farm is very large, and includes many different areas. To help understand where everything is and what function it serves, I've outlined important parts of your farm.

Most everything is well-labeled with signs, so if you have any questions, you should just read the appropriate sign.

  • House - This is the center of your farm; you begin and end your day here. It's basically only two rooms, but it seems quite large. In the top left are the beds (one for you and one for your partner). Below that, in a separate room, is the kitchen. Back in the main room, the phone is right next to the back door. Use the phone to call and get your crops shipped. There's a fireplace and bookshelf in the top right corner; read the books to become a better farmer. Your partner usually hangs out around the table with your pet.

  • Storage Shed - To the immediate right of the house is the storage shed. This is a key step to shipping crops: place crops in here by putting them in your rucksack, walking in, and leaving. Then go to your phone and call the Farmer's Union, select the crop, and ship it. Crops in the shed expire after a week or so (maybe less) unless you get the block of ice from the cave after the first year. When you get the fertilizer machine, expired crops in the shed will turn in to fertilizer to place with your crops.

  • Spa - Right next to the storage shed is an odd-looking building with no roof. Get the shovel and dig three times on each light-colored square in the middle of the room, and the next day you'll have a personal spa that will recover your stamina.

  • Wood Shed - Located right behind your house is the wood shed. The sign in front tells how much lumber you have, and if you press A up against the wood shed (with nothing equipped) you can take your wood out to make fences.

  • Stable - The large building next to the wood shed is the horse stable. It has two rooms to hold eight horses, and has a pasture in the back. Plant grass in the back and get fodder from the bin in the lower right.

  • Cow Barn - The cow barn is next to the stable. Your cows are here, of course. It's the same layout as the stable.

  • Silo - The sign in front of the silo tells how much fodder you have left.

  • Chicken Coop - Yep, this is for your chickens. I guess the sign on the front didn't make that obvious enough...

  • Sheep Pen - This is the exact same as the other barns, except that it holds sheep. Well isn't that a surprise?

  • Field - The majority of your farm is to the right of your yard - the crop field. Plant all your crops here, and dig out from the river to plant rice. You can also fish in the river to make quite a bit of money. Here's a hint: if you hoe all the bottom portion of the field (which you probably won't need for a long time anyway) you won't have to pick weeds down there anymore, since weeds won't grow on tilled soil.
