The second World Cup game is in the books – Ecuador has defeated Poland 2-0. Ecuador’s defense was very solid and they scored on two textbook plays, once in the first half from a long throw-in and again late in the game on a excellent series of passes leading to an open goal. Interestingly, their head soccer coach is also their general, equipment manager, and President.*
Poland didn’t appear to have any offense in store until the final ten minutes of the game, during which they managed to strike the crossbar and then, later, the post. Both shots came from the same Polish player – he must be feeling pretty darn unlucky right now.
England plays tomorrow morning, and they’re definitely going to win – after all, they’re going to win the tournament. Just watch.
* note: this is a lie.
