gayer galore! (iii)

gayerI’m not sure what brought this quote out of him, but he makes a very valid point. It’s concise, but true. If you don’t know what this post is about, read the first one of the series.

  1. speaking of cold ground…
i overheard this guy talking the other day about how once he gets out of the Guard, he’s going to use his money to start a militia in alaska for when the anti-christ comes.
    I was rofl.

  2. oh, well it goes to the apple store and there is a new apple desktop. its 12,000 dollars. its got 16mb of ram and 2tb of harddrive space. its only got a 3ghz processer though…

  3. dont you know, alaska=cold. the devil is used to the fire of hell so he will be very uncomfortable in alsaka. duh! 🙂

  4. 16 GB RAM. 16 MB wouldn’t run Windows 95.

As far as “only” a 3 GHz processor, you may be surprised to find that Intel’s newest, top-of-the-line Core 2 Duo processor maxes out at 2.93 GHz. It’s the architecture, not the raw speed, that matters. The 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo will blow the pants off of the 3.8 GHz P4.

That said, I have no idea what processor the Mac uses, because you can’t link. Well now I looked it up, and it’s a Xeon, which is for servers. Just because you max out a computer with those specs doesn’t mean you’ll get close to using all that RAM, the processor is poor for anything other than workstation applications, and the best graphics card offered would offer no performance benefits in games over a card $1200 cheaper. It’s a pretty system though.

  5. i was being sarcastic when i said only 3ghz… i probably should have used quotation marks. anyway. i ment 16GB of ram. its a nice system no doubt.

  6. they do have 4ghz processor out or coming soon. regardless. intel’s dual core architecture sucks, unless they very very recently changed it. No matter what the actual clock speed of their “dual core” processors are, they will always be bottlenecked by their design. AMD FTW.

  7. Clearly, you’re living in the past. Read up on Core 2 Duo. They’ve been completely redesigned, and though it’s only been out for a month now, this isn’t really new – it was known that the change would be drastic. The new Intels best every AMD processor (at the moment).

And Intel doesn’t have a 4 GHz processor coming out. Look at their roadmap. There’s a 3.8 GHz P4, but, like I said, it can be beaten by an overclocked, much lower frequency processor.
