you can’t read my mind

brain_diagram.jpgOnce again, listening to the radio has gotten me in trouble. This time, the song in question is “Over My Head (Cable Car)” by The Fray. One will notice that the entire song, for the most part, is in first-person. Whenever the singer says “you” in the verses, he’s speaking to the girl, such as, “I wish you were a stranger I could disengage.” That’s fine.

Why, then, in the chorus, does he go from first-person to second-person? The chorus is as follows:

“Everyone knows I’m in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She’s on your mind
She’s on your mind”

Umm, whose mind is she on? I thought she was on the singer’s, but now he’s bringing me into this? That’s just irritating.

  1. Third person would be “She’s on Bob’s mind,” if the singer’s name were Bob, or “She’s on his mind.” This is second person.

    Why so hostile?

  2. Were you born without a conscience, or did you just become adept at shutting him up?

I do like how you act all innocent now, as though I’m completely unreasonable and overreacting. If you need a reminder of everything you’ve done and why you deserve to be treated this way, I’ll happily oblige.

  3. Umm. The song/post has nothing to do with the comments which have transpired here. And even if she’s on my mind, that doesn’t mean I don’t want to get her out of there.

  4. Fuck you scott. I would like to eat you with a spoon. at midnight. Tonight, when you leave your cookies by the door, please leave a message at the beep.

  5. WTF…

“This is very pointless peoples. I have no problem with any, save one and for good reason. But I have found that the best thing to do with Sadasivan is ignore her, because her favorite thing in the world is attention.”

    “P.S. Sarah > lauren”

    see for yourself

Looks like people only have a problem with her when I don’t, and vice-versa. I’d attribute that to her deceitful nature.

  6. it’s all for good reason, and we both know it. Both of us mutually?! perposterous. then again, some crazy shit has been going on lately, and its probably not meant for this site.. Whatever the case, i still “kindly consider you — looks like quite a gamble”~
