In the last 24 hours, I’ve seen three movies. I will now proceed to critique each one in a most professional manner:
- Black Book. This is a WWII-era film I suspected would be little more than the story of a Nazi prostitute and which proved to be surprisingly entertaining. The story was actually very well-developed with many twists and the action rarely let down. Basically, the attractive lead woman is trying to resist the Nazis but she doesn’t know who to trust and deception is everywhere…etc. It was based on true events and as good as the plot is, it’s still realistic. Oh yeah, and the whole thing was in Dutch – annoying at first, but it ended up all right.
- I Am Legend. I liked it. The ending was a bit weak (not to give anything away) but Will Smith is great and it’s a pretty engrossing movie. It could have been better, but it’s certainly worth $5.
- Decoys – The Second Seduction. What would be a series of movie reviews without one horrifically bad one? Sadly, you’re about to find out. Any fan of the original Decoys will love the sequel. There aren’t as many catchy one-liners and the plot is outrageous, but it’s easily one of the best movies ever made – and I don’t say that lightly. TiVo it on the Sci-Fi channel if you want to see where American cinema is headed in the next several years. Very avant-garde stuff.
Do yourself a favor. Take me to funky town.
