total, complete, full coco pete post

I realize it’s been a while, but I figured it was time to do justice to that musical phenom Coconut Pete with a complete compendium of his works. As made famous by Broken Lizard’s Club Dread, these songs will get you ready for the summer beach season.

To begin, check out the complete collection of Coconut Pete album art here. Then, read the lyrics for his hit single “Pinacoladaberg” here. That will catch you up on the previous Coconut Pete posts. Now, here’s the new stuff…

How about complete lyrics to the other three Coconut Pete songs? How about the Coconut Pete MP3s, which were, for some unfathomable reason, omitted from the Club Dread soundtrack? Just click the links below to download the songs, but keep in mind that the links will have to be removed if those Broken Lizard guys come after me…or if Bill Paxton decides to release the songs on his own Coconut Pete album, which wouldn’t have me complaining. These songs are so rare, I feel the need to share. Enjoy!

MP3s (all 128 KBPS):
Coconut Pete – Pinacoladaberg
Coconut Pete – Pleasure Island
Coconut Pete – Naughty Cal
Coconut Pete – She’s a Comin’

(c) foxCoconut Pete – “Pleasure Island” lyrics:

Ahh, here we go:
There’s a little place where the sun sleeps late
Pours himself a shot of tequila
It’s a little place called Pleasure Island
That’s where I’d like to feel ya
It’s easy to find just beyond the last wave
Where the dolphins and whales are a-matin’
Sail all day and all night and take a hot ride
That’s where I’ll be a-waitin’
Pleasure Island, island of pleasure
No need to stop and think
Pleasure Island, a beautiful treasure
Come on down and have a drink
The place was discovered by a randy rum-runner
Back in the 18th century
He knew he had scored when his skiff washed ashore
And a monkey served him a frozen daiquiri
Nothing has changed – the birds still get high
And lovely ladies swing on the palm trees
Bikinis and lotion are the magic ocean potion
Why don’t you all come along with me
Pleasure Island, island of pleasure
No need to stop and think
Pleasure Island, a beautiful treasure
Come on down and have a drink
A tropical dream
Smearing coconut cream
The breeze is so tame
You’ll forget your own name
Pleasure Island, island of pleasure
No need to stop and think
Pleasure Island, fun is the master
I said, ‘Come on down and have a drink’
Pleasure Island, island of pleasure
No need to stop and think
Don’t be loco, it’ll grab you by your go-gos
Ahh just come on down and have a drink
…And maybe a smoke too
Oh yeah

(c) foxCoconut Pete – “Naughty Cal” lyrics:

Naughty Cal, Bongo and Tokie got tired of livin’ on land
So the three amigos took an undersea trip
And never were seen again
It started out all right, they made it a couple of miles
Till they spotted a watering hole
They had their wits about them, until they were served
A bottomless scorpion bowl
Naughty Cal and his pals, riding the waves for somewhere
High and low, they blew all their dough
And ended up nowhere
Tokie said, ‘Hey, I’ve got an idea…that is if you’re not yellow
Across the street, somethin’ sweet
An underwater bordello (bordello)
Tokie took ’em to the seahorse whorehouse
For a little spin
Bongo chose himself a pretty prawn
Cal preferred a dolphin (a dolphin)
Bongo the stone crab got high as a kite
And fell and cracked his shell (oh no!)
Tokie was lost in the maze all night
Because he screwed away his sense of smell
Naughty Cal and his pals, riding the waves to somewhere
High and low, they blew all their dough
And ended up nowhere
La la la la, la la la la, la la la la la
I said, ‘La la la la, la la la la, la la la la’
They pulled their shit together
Cleaned themselves all up
And they set out on their way (on their way)
They heard some talk about buried treasure
Down in mango bay (down in mango bay)
But a big bad orca, and a scary octopus
Were guarding the riverbed
Before you knew it, the fun was over
Because Bongo and Tokie were dead
I guess it seems that everybody’s lookin’
To find their own paradise
But it ain’t on Earth
It’s up there in Heaven
Someday we’re all gonna die
La la la la, la la la la, la la la la la
Yeah!
La la la la, la la la la, la la la la
Come on everybody!
La la la la, la la la la, la la la la
Pass that bong over here!
La la la la…(fade)
Woo! Yeah! Ha ha ha ha, woo!

(c) foxCoconut Pete – “She’s a Comin'” lyrics:

It’s the last week of work
And I feel like a jerk
There’s a chill in the air, and you know then
That’s it time to shut down for the hurricane season
She’s a comin,’ and she’s a blowin’
She’s a comin’
And she’s a blowin’
It’s a shame to leave such a beautiful girl
One that we’ve all come to love
She cradles and strokes us
Her friendship it soaks us
Warm and tight, she fits like a glove
Clear blue water
Bright white beaches
Palm trees that sway in the breeze
Oh Christ how I’ll miss her
That lady I love her
This last week is always a tease
She’s a comin’ (she’s a comin’)
And she’s a blowin’ (she’s a blowin’)
She’s a comin’ (she’s a comin’)
And she’s a blowin’ (she’s a blowin’)
Pleasure’s my island
And I know she’ll be smilin’
When I come back to see her
(Come back to see me)
If it weren’t for the weather
We’d stay here forever
Now it’s better to flee her
I hate to flee her!
This time of year
My girl, she goes queer
When another girl blows into town (into town)
It’s Hurricane Betty, and I know already
If I don’t sail away I could drown
Well there’s nothing better
When two girls come together
It’s best to stay out of the way
Cause when girls do their thing
Their annual thing
They ask for their space, si vu plait
So I might sail the seas
Visit old friends
But mostly just cry in my beer
Cause I’m leavin’ my lady
My beautiful lady
Cause hurricane season is here
But I’ll be back in October
When the season is over
Folks are lined up at the door
Say goodbye to the whitecaps
And bring on the nightcaps
She ain’t comin’ or blowin’ no more
She ain’t comin’ (she ain’t comin’)
Oh she ain’t blowin’ (she ain’t blowin’)
She ain’t comin’ (she ain’t comin’)
No, she’s not blowin’ (she ain’t blowin’)
She ain’t comin’ (she ain’t comin’) no no no no no
She ain’t blowin’ (she ain’t blowin’)
She ain’t comin’ (she ain’t comin’) no no no no no
She ain’t blowin’ (she ain’t blowin’)

If anyone finds any mistakes, or if you’re officially forcing me to remove the songs, feel free to contact me. Oh, and a recipe for Coconut Pete’s paella is still in the works.

Update: Fixed the one missing “Naughty Cal” line, I think.

  1. this was actually a scheduled post – i haven’t had any real internet access until today.

the trip rocked, but ended on a sour note. i think i’ll write about it.

  2. I love how these posts get the most comment traffic.

I’m planning a big article. But you know me, I usually flake on all my good ideas.
