damn you, axminster!

A villain is only truly successful if he:

  • Strikes fear into the hearts of his foes
  • Is purely bloodthirsty with no remorse
  • Is incessantly persistent
  • Has an incredible name

Enter Axminster, the unbelievably fantastic arch-nemesis found in the tenth episode of MacGyver’s first season. He meets all the necessary enemy criteria and exceeds each in his own hilarious way. Axminster, a deadly assassin who is fond of peanuts, is sent to kill MacGyver in the mountains. He brings only an AK-47-toting posse, a couple of Jeeps, and his finest sunglasses. Despite the name “Axminster” being said at least fifteen times throughout the 50-minute episode, Axminster never returns in a follow-up episode to continue his normal Axminsterish shenanigans. Instead, Murdoc picks up that mantle and does a respectable job. Video after the break…

Without further ado, I present a labor of love: It’s Axminster! (high-quality link), a tribute to a character eliminated before his rightful time. The clip compilation is only two minutes long and won’t hurt anyone to watch it. Keep in mind that all of the material is copyrighted by Paramount Pictures.

Credits: Axminster is played by D’Mitch Davis, and MacGyver is played by Richard Dean Anderson. Phenomenal actors both.

  1. really? no comment on the video?

and i don’t know how you do it. i checked that page daily for months and he never put anything up, and when i start slacking off, you get the scoop. how does that work?

it’s a pretty decent song. no quality version available for download though. 🙁

  2. A fine video, but I don’t think it proves your point. Damn fine though. Did you edit it together yourself?

  3. Yeah, but I didn’t have to do much…it follows the MacGyver episode pretty closely. Truly an amazing episode. If only they were all such high caliber.

  4. My partner and I died when we saw this video you made. It was truly perfect. We had just watched the episode “Targe MacGyver” and were confused by the lead villains name: “Did he just call him Axminster?” “Is Axminster even a name?” , etc… and we started laughing EVERY time Axminster was uttered. And when Mac sat on the ground cradling his grandfather and proclaimed: “Damn you Axminster!!” the deal was sealed for us. We couldn’t hear the name without laughing our faces off. We LOL’d when we saw your video. How can I share it?

  5. Ha, well I didn’t upload it to YouTube because I didn’t want Paramount getting mad at me, and I wanted to direct the traffic here. So you can share it on various services by using the little icons immediately below the post, or you can just share a link to this page. You could also download the high-quality version from the link in the post, if you’re interested. Really, there are ways to see the direct URL of the .flv file, which you could embed in a webpage.

Your story is exactly what I was hoping to hear by making this. It’s such an hilarious episode.

  6. well thank you for all the info. yes, we were thrilled someone out there in the world “got it” the same way we did. If I ever met one of the writers I would ask them about Axminster and how they came up with such a bad ass/amazing name!

  7. I watched the episode yesterday and noted some funny details.
    1. Axminster says “we run them right into the ground”.
In the next clip Axminster and his men are walking slowly!
    2. When Axminster starts to follow MacGyver and his grandpa on fot
after their jeep is destroyed it seems that they are only a few hundred meters behind but it’s not until next day that Axminster catch up with them.

  8. Yes, yes!
Bless the internet where you shall find other the likes of you!
I saw this episode last week (they show reruns at 02 am here in sweden atm)
Me and my friend started to enjoy this episode immensly once we realised the character Axminster! we mocked the cheezyness to a great level and as soon as the “damn you, Axminster” scene raped our eyes we couldnt let it go… now Axminster is being mentioned at least 3 times a day!
I tried google Axminster and found this tribute u made! Awesome!

    greetings from sweden!
    Damn you!

  9. well this video is awesome, and it’s also awesome that it’s getting play from sweden, etc.

had something else to say but forgot. also: hi!

  10. My ps3 name is TheAxminster. And when I play Call of Duty, the name itself make people quit! lol btw great site! all hail to TheAxeminster!!!!!!

  11. This is amazing. I watched this episode last night and I’m glad I wasn’t the only person who picked up on this ridiculous character. I couldn’t help but laugh every time his name is said. Which is a lot. The video is awesome!

  12. Axminster is a town a few miles from where I live in Devon, UK where the carpets come from. I always thought it was an odd / ridiculous name for a hitman or indeed person.

RDA does seem to have some connection to the East Devon / West Dorset as the very same location featured in one of the movies and is seen on the map. Don’t know if it’s a personal connection or not but the late Larry Hagman was an occasional visitor unlikely as this sounds for a place not really near anywhere important…it’s a nice place to live though, probably because it isn’t near anywhere important.

  13. You and me both, Nick. I knew I wasn’t alone.

I’m binge watching on Netflix and I’ll be frank: I don’t expect anything in the rest of the series to top Axminster.

  14. Wife & I just caught this episode on Amazon Prime…then had to Google this villian’s name – hit this site. Freakin hilarious. All hail Axminster!
