Sometimes, even the crazies get it right:
[Hugo] Chavez said giving Obama the Nobel award was like giving a baseball pitcher a prize simply for saying he was going to win 50 games and strike out 500 batters.
Having the U.S. President win a Nobel Peace Prize should be a great thing…if he has earned it. Baseless utopian dreams don’t count – we’ve all had those. Unfortunately, this further diminishes the significance of the award, adding to the detriment it has received from certain past decisions. I suppose it’s anyone’s guess who wins it next year – but hey, you have a 1/6.95 billion chance.
Oh, for those who forgot (i.e. those of the Nobel Committee):
The section of Alfred Nobel’s will detailing the creation of the Peace Prize states that it should be awarded “to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.”
